Manufactured Homes And The 4th Amendment?
In the tiny little town of Howell Utah, not all housing options are created equal. Located about 10 miles south of where the first transcontinental railroad passed through Utah’s Promontory Mountains, many of the town’s property owners feel as though their fourth amendment rights have been egregiously violated by the town’s City Council. According to a November 13th story in the Sentinel news, several property owners have been put on notice; alerted to the fact that their pre HUD built mobile homes constituted a visual blight in their neighborhood. As such, the city of Howell’s governing Council has asked that these “eyesores” be removed from the private property on which they reside.
Manufactured Homes And The 4th Amendment?
Fortunately for fans of the fourth amendment, the city of St. George Utah is already under fiscal fire, embroiled in a litigious battle over the same type of issues … aesthetics.
Unlike Howell, St. George Utah has a population of approximately 90,000 people and has for the most part embraced manufactured homes, and the many PUD (planned unit development) communities in which they reside. Neighborhoods like Canyon View Mobile Home park, Paradise Palms, Valley View Mobile Home Park, and Dixie Downs Mobile Home park, provide both blue-collar workers and retirees a fiscally responsible option to the more expensive site constructed homes. While some of the Pre-HUD manufactured homes are causing a problem for some, today’s modern manufactured homes offer an economically responsible choice for the nations rapidly aging baby boomers – as well as the hard-working public sector employees that struggle to keep us safe, educated and free.
While some Utah communities may dislike Manufactured Homes, Malibu California loves them! And what’s not to love? Built from the same quality materials as today’s expensive site constructed homes, these technologically advanced and environmentally friendly homes only need the proper location to make them the Castle of your dreams.
