MFH News: Lexington Homes Receives $6.76 Million Contract for Manufactured Homes –
Providing help and hope for those now homeless and Louisiana’s 22 flooded parishes, Lexington Homes of Lexington, Mississippi has been awarded a $6.7 million contract by The Federal Emergency Management Agency (a.k.a. FEMA) to provide some much needed temporary housing in the overly saturated region, according to the Waco Tribune. Profitable and burdensome, Lexington Homes was one of seven manufactured housing providers to successfully compete for this open-ended delivery/indefinite quantity contract and one that includes a four-year option. MFH Note: The other six bid award manufacturing companies have not been announced at this time. One major manufactured home company, Sunshine Homes of Red Bay, Alabama, did not submit a bid for FEMA manufactured homes. Sunshine Homes has a large retail outlet presence in the state of Louisiana, but in deference to the replacement stocking inventory needs of those loyal retailers, Sunshine Homes bypassed the lucrative opportunity to compete for these FEMA contracts. “We anticipate our normal business in the market to be — unfortunately — — spectacular,” said John Bostick, President, and CEO of Sunshine Homes. “I believe our Lafayette retailer is going to call and say everything is sold.” Bostick did add that the industry does have “unlimited capacity’ to fulfill the needs of the recovery efforts in Louisiana.
