Florida’s Nature Coast is world renowned for its breathtaking views, biking, snorkeling, fishing, a relaxed atmosphere, and some of the best seafood in the State. Located in Homosassa (which the Seminole Indians named, meaning home of many fish), Walden Woods South offers an active lifestyle for people who enjoy the serenity that only nature can provide.
Located within driving distance to Orlando and Tampa means that our residents can quickly get to the heart of Florida’s most celebrated attractions and commercial districts. Walden Woods South has a mild Floridian climate, and coupled with all the crystal clear water ways, natural and wildlife preserves are the reason that many proudly call this area home. The painter, Winslow Homer, painted many of his works here; Hernando de Soto explored this area for the fountain of youth and copious amounts of gold. Novelist Piers Anthony retired in the area along with baseball great, Ted Williams.
People come to this area to enjoy the beautiful spring-fed rivers and enjoy the treasures that the area has waiting to be explored. Observe the manatees in their natural habitat or view the many different types of wildlife that can be found in the various area’s nature preserves, such as the Chassahowitzka Natural Refuge. All can see the unspoiled refuge that a primitive Florida has to offer, all while in the midst of this beautiful backdrop seats Walden Woods South.
