Walden Woods South has a mild Floridian climate, and coupled with all the crystal clear water ways, natural and wildlife preserves are the reason that many proudly call this area home. The painter, Winslow Homer, painted many of his works here; Hernando de Soto explored this area for the fountain of youth and copious amounts of gold. Novelist Piers Anthony retired in the area along with baseball great, Ted Williams.
