Coogan Construction originated in 1921 in Ireland when Dennis Coogan began contracting in carpentry and masonry. Dennis Coogan was known for his versatility and understanding of the entire building process. Dennis’ son, Jack Coogan, served his apprenticeship, and learned the building process, with his father. In 1944, Jack left Ireland to embark on a wide-ranging career in construction which took him throughout Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and North America. After many years of diverse international experience, Jack settled in the territory of Alaska in 1957. Jack’s sons grew up in the construction business in Alaska and continued the family tradition by serving trade apprenticeships, gaining professional training and experience.
